Hosted by Haitian American musician Wyclef Jean, George Clooney and Anderson Cooper, this worldwide telethon will broadcast commercial-free and the monies raised will be divided evenly and directly to Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation for earthquake relief.

Scion Installation 6: VIDEO
Now in its 6th year, this revolutionary art tour kicks off 2010 in Los Angeles. The tour focuses on the video medium, which emerged in the 1960s and has since expanded galleries into more experimental, kinetic and interactive spaces. “Installation 6: Video” challenged 10 artists to create non-narrative video installations that will eventually transform five unique exhibitions around the country. Dust la Rock (Brooklyn, NY), Eric Nakamura (Los Angeles, CA), Saelee Oh (Los Angeles, CA), French (London, England), Josh Graham (New York, NY), Ill-Studio (Paris, France), Monihan Monihan (New York, NY), Mark Mothersbaugh (Los Angeles, CA), PMKFA (Tokyo, Japan), and Sage Vaughn (Los Angeles, CA). All of the artists will be in attendance.

This children’s event has students write letters in sacred notebooks to their future selves and include their most private hopes and thoughts (in code). These will be sealed with wax and labeled “NOT TO BE OPENED UNTIL NEW YEAR’S EVE.” a year later when they’ll reopen their notebooks and realize what they’ve done. It’s hosted by Jon Bernstein, the screenwriter for Ringmaster, Beautiful, and Meet the Robinsons, and the plays Showcase! and The Blunders.

Support Doctors Without Borders as they provide much needed medical care via volunteer nurses and doctors and they were in Haiti prior to the disaster. I heard that the money donated is used within 5 minutes of processing in the country. Let’s help revive this very relevant nation!
