TWO-HOUR GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP
Want to learn how to find and tap into millions in grants available from government, foundation and corporate funders? FREE, 2-hour workshop presented by La Quetta M. Shamblee, M.B.A., author of The Grantbuilder: Step-by-Step Guide to Grant Writing Workbook. The Grantbuilder is an easy-to-follow system that uses a five-step process and 10 basic building blocks to prepare all types of grant proposals (government, foundation and corporate). She used the workbook to teach a 10-week grantwriting course at UCLA Extension during the past three years.
The workshop includes a demonstration of “how to” use the internet to find current and upcoming grants available for a variety of programs and activities at nonprofits, local schools and faith-based organizations.
They will show you how to tap into the millions of grant dollars available to support the arts, educational programs (including S.T.E.M.), economic development, job training and more.
Find out why approximately 15% of all nonprofits always get about 85% of all of the grants available – We’ll share what you need to know to join the 15% that get funded.
Individuals who register online by Saturday, October 22st will have a chance to win a copy of the 200-page Grantbuilder Workbook during the workshop.
Visit TheGrantbuilder.com for info and to complete the brief online registration form.

MARINA DEL REY’S HARVEST DAYS & HAUNTED NIGHTS HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL
Marina del Rey debuts a NEW community festival this year. Our beloved waterfront Burton W. Chase Park will be taken over by zombie pirates, ghouls, and other spooks for three days, October 28-30.
Young children can take part in non-scary daytime fun, including face-painting, carnival games, a train ride, costume contests, pirate ship tours, and more. When evening approaches, and a spooky marine mist creeps over the park, get ready for spine-tingling thrills. (Evening activities are recommended for age 13 and up.)
The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors tapped Draw Events for design and production services, and the spirited crew will be the force behind “haunted” tall ships available for tours during the event’s evening hours. Draw has produced several nautically focused events, including the 2014 Tall Ships Festival of LA.
Evening attendees can also enjoy a hay maze, demonstrations from a master pumpkin carver, costume contests, and more.
Admission is free, and food is available for purchase.
The public can direct questions about the event to the Marina del Rey Visitors Center at 310-305-9545, or go to visitmarinadelrey.com. A schedule of events will be posted closer to event time.
