YOGA AT ATHLETA SHERMAN OAKS It is said that laughter is the best medicine. Now imagine combing that with the power of Yoga and you are sure to lift your spirits and leave you feeling centered and emotionally fulfilled.
They all enjoy a good laugh but, did you know that laughing for just 10-15 minutes continuously may provide pain relief for up to two hours, increase oxygen levels in the blood, relieve stress and anxiety, improve self-confidence, bring on a state of euphoria, and a strengthened immune system? And, did you know that you could get these benefits whether your laughter is genuine or simulated?
In Laughter Yoga, we work with the unique concept that we can laugh without relying on jokes comedy or humor. In a typical Laughter Yoga session, we will play games and do exercises that will get us to laugh. Since, we are doing this as an exercise, we don’t leave laughter to chance. We achieve the many benefits of Laughter Yoga through our willingness and commitment to laugh. We end our sessions with a Laughter Meditation. Water and a towel are recommended. No yoga mat required.

FRIDAYS OFF THE 405 PRESENTS REGGIE WATTS’ YACHT DJ SETNamed “the most wildly inventive new talent of the past five years” by LA Weekly, and one of the “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of all Time” by Rolling Stone, Reggie Watts is an internationally renowned vocal artist/ beat boxer /musician/comedian. Blurring the line between music and comedy, he uses his formidable voice, looping pedals, and vast imagination for 100% improvised performances that have been hailed as “spectacularly original.” Watts has performed sold-out headlining tours in the U.S. and Europe, including sets at Bonnaroo, SXSW, Bumbershoot, and more. He is a musical cohort and co-star in the IFC series “Comedy Bang! Bang!” and in his many “Reggie Makes Music” videos, as well as the frontman of Seattle rock outfit Maktub. Watts has performed or toured with LCD Soundsystem, Regina Spektor, and DEVO and regularly appears on the late night show circuit. Since 2015, Reggie Watts has served as bandleader on CBS’ Late Late Show with James Corden. His latest stand-up special, “Spatial,” is on Netflix.
Also appearing for a DJ set is YACHT, the conceptual pop band led by Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans, who in addition to making synth-y dance music, create objects, events, texts, video, products, websites, and other miscellaneous things for beings and their screens. In 2015, Bechtolt and Evans co-curated the Getty’s Friday Flights event, building off the LA-centric content of their app 5 Every Day, which included the Museum’s first outdoor stand-up comedy show.
OFF THE 405 is the Getty Center’s free summer concert series, bringing some of today’s most exciting bands to the stage for a memorable experience amid stunning architecture and breathtaking sunset views.
