TIMELESS
This event centers around music and food trucks! In 2009, the Timeless concert series was filmed. It was a tribute to influencers of hip-hop Arthur Verocai, acclaimed for his oft-sampled 1972 solo album; J. Dilla, the late Detroit record producer; and Mulatu Astatke, creator of Ethio-jazz. They will be remixed live by the Beat Junkies’ J. Rocc at an outdoor film screening in Little Tokyo Plaza, at this first event of the JACCC’s “Summer on the Plaza” series of free movies and concerts.

DOMINICAN, CUBAN, PUERTO RICAN & OTHER CARIBBEAN FOOD AT EL RINCONCITO Y LA COCINA DEL CAMAGUEY
Mi amiga (my friend) Ilonka Garcia recently started offering authentic Caribbean Latino food for pick-up, take out & catering at one of LA’s oldest Cuban markets, El Camaguey. Her food is scrumptious and made healthily. The prices are amazing too – every day she has $5 meal specials and all dishes are under $10. The flavors will make you think you’re back on the east coast or even in the Caribbean. There are options for every customer’s palate: fried when you want to be bad (lol), vegetarian bowls, island plates, prime ribs, pupusas, tacos and tortas, steaks, sandwiches and plate combinations. Ilonka’s new culinary partner is a gentleman named Hector who owned the first Dominican restaurant ever opened in California called Caribe Sol Restaurant in Glendale. Her food is GREAT! The shop has been open for less than a month and already has a following.

RESTAURANT.COM GIFT CERTIFICATES
Every few days this unique site does an amazing sale. Here’s how their site benefits over 5 million customers: find the restaurant you want to eat at and gift certificates of multiple denominations. Normally a $25 gift certificate that requires a minimum $35 purchase (+ 18% gratuity on the total bill) for 2 people sells for $10. Well, if they’re having an 80% off sale that voucher comes out to only $2! Spend $2 and get $25 off of your $35 check. This is totally legitimate and restaurants are usually quite appreciative for the new business.
