Celebrate the annual migration – 10,000 to 14,000 miles round trip between the arctic seas and the warm lagoons of Baja California, Mexico – of the Pacific gray whale along the California Coast! This migration takes the whales past the Pier – sometimes within viewing distance from the west end observation deck.
The Aquarium will provide a wildlife observation station at the west end of the Pier, stocked with binoculars and field guides, giving visitors the opportunity to search for whales and other local wildlife. American Cetacean Society/Whale Watch representatives staffing the observation station can address questions about these gentle giants. Above the Aquarium, chalk artists Brian Rojas and Shasha Karlova create a life-sized grey whale drawing. Once done, guests will be invited to help color in and write their own messages inside the whale. Other activities include story time, face painting, film screenings and a 2:30pm staff presentation on changing ocean temperatures and how they affect whales, presented in a game show style that will be fun for the whole family.
Free for children 12 and under; general admission is $3, suggested donation $5.

RESTAURANT.COM GIFT CERTIFICATES
Every few days this unique site does an amazing sale. Here’s how their site benefits over 5 million customers: find the restaurant you want to eat at and gift certificates of multiple denominations. Normally a $25 gift certificate that requires a minimum $35 purchase of food (+ 18% gratuity on the total bill) for 2 people sells for $10. Drinks are usually not covered. Well, if they’re having an 80% off sale that voucher comes out to only $2! Spend $2 and get $25 off of your $35 check. This is totally legitimate and restaurants are usually quite appreciative for the new business. And usually the servers are happy because they’re tipped 18% of the full value of the check. It’s a win win situation for all!
