Elixir is a free monthly variety show that features live music, rotating singers, burlesque, comedy, belly dance, audience participation, hip-hop dance crews, drag queens, audience participation and red carpet photobooth in a dinner show setting with DJ/Dance after party. OPENING OF THE RYMAN ARTS ALUMNI 25TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION
Looking for fresh and inspiring work in the Los Angeles art community? Join Ryman Arts for the opening of a new art exhibition at Maker City LA. Guests will revel in a beautifully curated art exhibition, planned by a committee of Ryman Arts Alumni, featuring artwork from 60 talented alumni artists in Ryman Arts’ prestigious 25-year history. The artwork will be on display from November 21 through November 28. Many of the pieces will be available for purchase.
The exhibit will feature emerging and established Los Angeles artists practicing a diverse range of art using mediums including: painting, digital design, drawings, prints, mixed-media, industrial design prototypes, linocut, and book prototypes. The show represents a range of approaches to art making taken by the artists who received their original foundation studio training at Ryman Arts.
Artists will include Ryman Arts Alumni from the early days such as Oscar Magallanes, who has work in the permanent collection of McNay Art Museum in Texas, Glynnis Reed a mixed media artist now based in New Jersey, as well as emerging artists including Sally Deng, a current student at Art Center who recently exhibited at RAWsalt gallery in Laguna Beach and Skechers Performance designer Zack Mendoza, who combines his love of sports and art in his work.
The reception and weeklong exhibition will take place at Maker City LA, a creative space housed on the 11th floor of The Reef that serves the needs of the creative community with unique workshops, a collaborative environment, community workspaces, and events such as this exhibition.

The Santa Monica History Museum is excited to announce the return of their children’s Hands on History workshop series!
Children and their parents are invited to this free series held on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 11am to 12pm. Each session will include a short, age-appropriate history lesson in the galleries followed by a related craft or activity.
Each workshop is designed to be engaging and educational for elementary age (5-11 years) children. Topics for the workshops will rotate throughout the year to feature relevant, seasonal lessons and activities. Every workshop is offered free of charge!

ARROYO ARTS COLLECTIVE DISCOVERY TOUR
A self-guided auto tour featuring more than 100 artists in homes and studios in Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Mount Washington, and neighboring areas.
The Arroyo Arts Collective’s 23rd annual Discovery Tour will take place from 10am-5pm on Sunday November 22, 2015. Explore the vibrant community of Northeast LA, in a neighborhood where hip urbanity nestles side by side with the wilderness of the arroyo and the surrounding canyons. Featuring a diverse range of fine art and craft by both emerging and established artists, the Discovery Tour is one of the oldest and most eclectic art tours in Los Angeles.
The Tour will start this year at the Southwest Museum, a beloved monument to the past of Northeast Los Angeles and a focus of opportunity for the future. The Arroyo Arts Collective is proud to partner with the Autry Museum in opening this iconic building to the community. A variety of crafts and fine art will be on display.
Tour attendees will proceed from the Museum to view an eclectic mix of studios, homes and historic buildings in Highland Park, Mt. Washington and adjacent areas. Participants will be provided with a map of Tour locations and can create their own path, or utilize the shuttle bus that will stop at pre-selected locations.
Offerings include remarkable paintings in every genre, charming ceramics, dazzling wearable art, intricate metal works, hand-hewn musical instruments, finely crafted drawings and prints, sophisticated tapestries, and one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Northeast Los Angeles–or NELA, as the locals call it–is a magnet neighborhood for artistic talent. With a steady influx of new galleries, restaurants and boutiques, NELA attracts creative energy across many cultures. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover–or rediscover–this unique neighborhood and the artists who call it home.

Artists & Fleas opened in DTLA’s nearby Arts District in the Summer of 2014, bringing its unique, curated market approach to a city rich with art and craft shows, fairs and venerable flea markets to create a mash-up of these environments. Master carver Jacob Angeles Ojeda will showcase his intricate carving and painting techniques. The Southern California Indian Center’s American Indian Cultural Festival & 47th Annual Pow Wow will take place on November 21st and 22nd at the OC Fair & Event Center Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa. The event is a celebration of Native American cultures and will feature traditional songs, dances, and storytelling with more than 50 artist booths where you can buy handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and beadwork. Native American food vendors will be serving frybread and Indian tacos. General admission is just $5.
